1st GCSEL International Conference on Sports Law in the Global South, 24-25 April 2025 (ONLINE)

https://www.asser.nl/sportslaw/) is delighted to invite you to submit your abstract for the 1st GCSEL International Conference on Sports Law in the Global South. This landmark event will take place on April 24-25, 2025, (ONLINE) addressing the theme: “Transnational Sports Law from the Periphery: A Global South Perspective.

We encourage submissions exploring critical issues faced by the Global South in the realm of sports law. Topics include:

  • Revisiting the Court of Arbitration for Sport: Challenges and Opportunities for the Global South

  • Athlete Rights in the Global South: Advocacy, Implementation, and Challenges

  • Anti-Doping Frameworks in the Global South: Ensuring Integrity from the Periphery

  • Tackling Corruption in Sports Governance in Emerging Economies

  • Data Use and Privacy in Sports: Legal Frameworks in the Global South

  • eSports Regulation: Legal Challenges and Opportunities

  • Football Governance: Legal Reforms in the Global South


Submission Guidelines:

Please submit a 300-word abstract along with your CV to gcsl@gnlu.ac.in and tsingh@gnlu.ac.in by February 15, 2025. Selected speakers will be notified by February 28, 2025.


Participants whose abstracts are accepted will be required to submit a draft (3000 words) by April 15, 2025. Presented papers will be eligible for publication in an edited volume, subject to peer review.


We strongly encourage Indian academics to collaborate with scholars and practitioners from the Global South. Such partnerships will foster a richer exchange of ideas, creating a more inclusive dialogue on sports law challenges and opportunities.
